Today I'm going to embrace happiness in the moment.  The little things. A warm cup of tea on a cold winters day.  Laughter at work. Sunshine on my window.

#motivationmonday


I've been thinking about this a lot lately.  So often we want to make changes to our behaviour and lifestyle but we don't ever actually achieve results.  We think that merely by making a plan we will automatically move towards fulfilling it.  In my experience that rarely happens.  In my opinion that's wishful thinking. It's almost like hoping on a magic fairly godmother to wave a wand and miraculously change our behaviour or circumstances without us doing a thing.  Yep... it's too good to be true.  

Instead of wishing on the impossible, or at least the highly improbable, why to make small changes in behaviour that reflect the person you want to become - your future self.  Today this is the behaviour I'm going to try out.  Behave like I'm already the woman I want to be... and see if I can't make some small steps towards succeeding.

Sometimes you just need soup

I rarely get sick... but this week has been a doosey.  (Did I just use the word doosey?!? I must still be a little under the weather.)  So I was very glad to have started out the week right by fortuitously making a huge pot of chicken and vege soup.  I didn't know how much I was going to need it.  I made it because the weather has been horrid here last week and was cold and wet.  All I wanted to do was curl up on the couch with a blanket and a big bowl of home cooked soup.


I love soup.  I love making it.  I love experimenting.  I love that it is almost impossible to get it wrong.  I can't say this is a special recipe handed down from generation to generation.  It's not something from a famous chef's cook book.  It's really just a bit of this and a bit of that that I've thrown into a pot, but it sure tastes good and is a go to meal for us in winter.
Oh and because it's chicken soup it's good for the soul... or so they say.  All I know is that I was grateful I'd made so much of it and I ate every last bit.  Here's to restoring both my soul and my body.

#motivationmonday


If I'm not achieving my goals this week it's time to take a good hard look at what I'm doing to achieve them.  In fact am I doing anything to achieve them?  Am I being intentional or am I just crossing my fingers and going through life with some blind hope that simply by wishing for what I want that it will happen?  I'm not naive and I don't believe in fairy tales.  I'd much rather rescue myself than wait for a knight in shinning armour, so why wouldn't I treat my goals and dreams the same way?  Something to be constantly moving towards.
