Born adventurer?

Lately I've been thinking a lot about what makes a person tick.  What makes someone an adventurer or an entrepreneur?  Are they born with a healthy disregard for the impossible?  Lacking a sense of fear proportional to the risk being undertaken? Is it just in their personality to be boldly charging forward launching new ideas at a pace others can only marvel at?  Or is it the environment they grew up in?  Did their parents create an environment where risk was rewarded and adventure pursued?  Did their teachers challenge their concept of the possible and push them to think bigger?  Was there someone in whose footsteps they could follow?

I really don't have the answer to any of this.  I'm sure greater minds than I have pondered the question, researched for a bit and then gone an written a best selling book on how to achieve your goals, dream big and conquer the world.  Why I'm interested in the topic is because it's personal.  It impacts how I live my life.  It impacts how big I dare to dream.  It affects my sense of self and my understanding of risk and reward.  In short, there could be something in this nature/nurture thing for me to grasp to overcome my fears and to help me to walk into a future that at the moment I only dare dream about in the wee hours of the morning.

Anyway it's something that has got me thinking and reflecting on my life, the opportunities before me and the experiences that have shaped me.  Something I think I'll be reflecting on a little more in the coming weeks.
